6 rangers killed in newest assault at Congo’s Virunga park

There was no quick declare of duty, although previous assaults on Virunga park rangers have been blamed on a number of armed teams that vie for management of japanese Congo’s pure sources. Amongst these insurgent teams is the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, identified by its French acronym FDLR, an ethnic Hutu group against the federal government of neighboring Rwanda and one of many final factions of Rwandan rebels energetic within the Congo.

In April 2020, an ambush close to the Virunga Nationwide Park killed 12 rangers and 5 civilians, and critically injured a number of others.
